The exponential increase in the pace of the current world we are living in is some way or the other beginning to decrease the significance of art and fellow talented artists. Creativity in the form of arts and crafts is on the decline. The stereotypical mindset of the society which underestimates the hard work of artists is constantly decreasing the confidence and abundance of good artists and different forms of art. It is getting difficult for artists to get a decent outlet to showcase their work, which is one of the prime reasons that make people capitulate their dreams and move in another direction.
Art Godaam provides an outlet for those people who have an interest and passion in the field of art, craft, decoration, and fashion.
Art Godaam was founded in January 2013 by Shisir Kumar Jena, a CSAC State awardee in Pattachitra and brother Sameer Kumar Jena, an architect and designer. Shisir is a colossal admirer of art, craft, literature since childhood, which led him to devote ample amount of time researching various forms of art and crafts.
“Our mission is to USE ART IN OUR DAILY LIFE by creating products starting from home decor to lifestyle accessories so that people can make a habit of using hand made products.” - Art Godaam
Shisir being a huge enthusiast of art interacted with numerous artists and came to know that, they were facing a lot of difficulties to get a relevant outlet so as to market or promote their work.
Even after creating breathtaking creations, their work was constantly being undervalued.
So he came up with the idea of creating a channel in order to promote and encourage such spectacular artists.
The name Art Godaam came up when Shisir and Sameer realized that when both of them gathered a huge collection of arts and crafts in their home, it looked like a godown of art. Art Godaam was then named since it summed up their work and was easy to remember.
Their venture faced a lot of challenges for the obvious reasons that include the stereotyped mindset of people who avoid encouraging people taking the road less traveled, the arrangement of sufficient capital to start up a business, the risk of failure and others. But these challenges did nothing but trigger the team of Art Godaam to strive for success.
Today, Art Godaam collaborates with various artists, art and craft communities across the country including the art and craft forms residing in the remote and less accessible areas of the country, developing and encouraging artists to carry on their astounding work.
The products and handicrafts are promoted through various workshops in schools, colleges, exhibitions, online platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, and their own website as well and other social networking sites.
As per the recent update, Art Godaam has worked with and uplifted 45 artisans towards success in the market. Art Godaam promotes every form of art emphasizing more on the traditional art of Odisha, and the declining art forms of country, including Pattachitra, Terracotta on recyclable products.
The much-needed initiative of the Shisir and Sameer has sparked a flame in the hearts of so many artists and craft persons to follow their passion no matter how hard the path shall be and this venture shall encourage thousands of such hearts which would eventually restore the auspiciousness of art and artists.
